During the last year, the Diplomatic Institute built strong ties with the Government of Uganda and hosted several seminars in Israel, for the following officials and businesspersons:

• Visit of the Head of the Uganda Water and Sewage Corporation

• Seminar to the KCCA - Kampala Capital City Authority

• Seminar and Governmental meetings with the Ugandan Minister of Economic Monitoring

• Seminar to the L5, headed by the Chairperson of Butambala District

• Visit of a delegation from Pied Tropics, Kampala

• Exhibition and business development with Africa Mushroom Growers, Makindye Luvuma Zone

• Arrangement of seminar Doing Business with Uganda with the Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, 1st. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister For East African Community Affairs

• Hosting the delegation of Mityana Local Government, headed by Nsegumire Muhamad Kibedi

• Reception of the Hon. Ms. Esther Davinia Anyakun,  the Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development of Uganda and her delegation, for a professional seminar in the fields of agriculture, Labor, Export and doing business with Israel

 

As the results of those events, the Diplomatic Institute started to develop business relations with Uganda:

1. Fish, mainly Nile Perch, frozen and fresh, full and fillet.

2. Sesame seeds

3. Mushroom and mushroom derivatives

4. Minerals mining and processing

5. Ethnic art, via a special eCommerce portal

6. Banking authentication systems

 

In the agriculture field, we developed several Dignity Farming and Urban-Agriculture projects, which are subject to the decision of the Government on how and when to develop.

 

We are also working on a mega project of bringing Ugandan skilled workers to work in Israel, thanks to the educational level and the English Language domination of most Ugandans.

In order to facilitate all the written above, we are taking the following steps:

• The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, at the Office of the President, appointed Ms. Namirembe Christine, as the Uganda Diaspora Affairs Coordinator in Israel. Christine will also be your contact person for all your needs.

• The Diplomatic Institute teamed up with the Israeli Global Mobility Law Firm Kan-Tor Acco to assist the facilitation of all activities with Uganda.

• As we know that many Ugandans residing in Israel are facing some issues in legalizing the status in Israel, Kan-Tor Acco is offering its services in the following:

  • Help any Ugandan residing in Israel in obtaining her or his paperwork, according to the Israeli Immigration regulations.

  • Check the employment agreement of any Ugandan working in the country, assuring that all your rights are fully covered. The initial review of the document is free of charge.

  • Check your payment slip, to assure that all payments and deductions are according to the laws and that your rights are being respected. Furthermore, they will confirm that the deducted funds are deposited accordingly at the authority and pension funds.

  • Handle any other legal issue that you may have: labor, family, property, rent, lease, civil, criminal, etc.

  • In the event that any Ugandan wishes to open a business in Israel, import or export, the Diplomatic Institute will assist in the process and Kan-Tor Acco will provide the legal envelop.

 

The law firm promised to keep the fees reasonable and accessible to any Ugandan. All communications with the Attorney are confidential and protected under the attorney-client privilege.

 

In addition, we agreed with the Dental School at the Tel Aviv University to grant a limited amount of free dental service to Ugandan residents in Israel. The treatments will be done by students, under the direct supervision of certified doctors.
